and I don't want a Tarta alert sent out for me
Seriously though. I have been thinking a lot lately about how this election is causing me fear and panic,to the point of keeping me up at night. It's probably because I'm pregnant, but whatever it is I don't think it's healthy. I have been praying lately for a way to avoid feeling this way. DH and I have decided to go on a media-strike until the end of the election. This means no TV, newspaper, talk radio, Internet or political discussion of any kind. I need this time to clear my head and focus on what is really important.
So, love to you ladies. I'll see you in a few weeks.
Re: Not going to be online for a few weeks
I have to check email for work purposes.
I've always been a news junkie and my husband has to make me turn the channel sometimes because I'm GLUED to it. I really do feel better when I don't watch it for a while - or at least watch it so much.
Have fun on your media break!
Really? I guess I don't understand... All you can do is vote and hope your candidate wins. What happens if yours doesn't? Do you go and hibernate in the woods for 4 years?
Not trying to be snarky, just trying to understand...
?
Damnn you are annoying. ?Why don't you leave the country??
Because I plan to stay here and do what I can to change it for the better, even if I have to suffer through politicians at every level who I dislike or fundamentally disagree with. I'm not going to have a panic attack and form a compound because a Republican wins an election. That would be douchey.
?
"douchey" is you telling someone to leave the country because they are avoiding the media for a few weeks. ?But I guess you are better than everyone. ?Or at least more annoying....?
Well I'm clearly keeping you entertained, glad to help!
Perhaps you don't have any context about adamwife. She constantly half-jokes about moving to a compound in Montana after Obama wins, and her DH thinks he will need survival guides and supplies for the civil unrest that will follow. I've seen multiple threads on 2nd tri over the last month where they joke about leaving the country depending on who gets elected. It's disgusting, 'un-American', and exactly the kind of thing that Republicans made fun of for the last 8 years - iI.e. 'If you don't like it, you can geeet out!'
So uh, I call shenanigans!
if you don't understand what littlegypt said, you may have missed the context with this particular OP.
adamwife, i wish you luck. i also think you may want to talk with someone about your fears, because it doesn't seem rational that you are this worried about the election.
Get a job? Seriously, if you just moved here, get used to it. Also, it's sunny on the Eastside
Not quite in the Mercer Island bracket yet! I work at Microsoft and live close-ish to work. I like the weather, but I grew up here. You can feel smug about it when it's August and you don't even need A/C.
Serious advice: Take some Vitamin D. You will probably become deficient.
