How long have you been married? Do you celebrate anniversaries?

We are coming up on our 7th anniversary in a few weeks. We are celebrating by spending a night away from the kids - nice dinner, a night in a swanky hotel and maybe a little casino action. It's SO out of the norm for us, and I am really looking forward to it.

How long have you been married? Do you celebrate each year?

Re: How long have you been married? Do you celebrate anniversaries?

  • We have been married 9 years.  (We just had our 9 month anniversary on Aug 25th)  We do celebrate every year.  Sometimes it's just something small like dinner & a movie and othe ryears it's been something bigger like a weekend trip away.
  • 8 years in November.  And yes, we do celebrate but not always alone. We have been in Disney for our Anniversary the last five years. If there are other family members with us, dd will spend the night with them. If not she is with us.

  • We've been married 4 years.  Our anniversaries are always lame.  1st year I was pregnant and had to work late.  2nd one DS had a baseball game.  3rd one, we promised DS he could pick out dinner for his last day of school because we completely forgot our anniversary.  We had Chinese buffet.  The 4th was just a few months ago and I can't even remember it.

I've always said that we'll do something big for our 5th.  I'll turn 30 the same month and we've never (ever!!!) had a vacation with just the two of us.  I don't care where we go, but we're going somewhere.

  • 8 years this coming Tuesday.

We've gone to a B&B that we spent the night after we got married since our honeymoon was a couple of months after our wedding (D&R Nerfberger....neeser knows the place)

    We've done really nice dinners.

We always try to do at least a little something.

  • We were married 6 years in May.  Our anniversary is the day before R's birthday, so it kind of gets overshadowed by that.  But, the last three years, we have always taken the Friday closest to it off (the day before R's party) to go out for lunch at a nice place and do something together.  This year, we golfed in the morning and went out for lunch.  Then, I spent the afternoon making cake and stuff for R's party the next day.
  • This fall will be 13 years.  We celebrate by going out to dinner(without the children).
  • We're coming up on 7 years, too (Oct.). No, we don't celebrate anniversaries. Last year I had really bad cramps and we drank beer and ate Little Caesar's crazy bread. The good news is that it at least gives us a night off because someone will offer to babysit, but we're not big into holidays and such. DH wanted to go away this year to go hiking, but that won't be happening this year.

  • It'll be 6 years in October. We normally go out to dinner or something, but not always on the actual day of our anniversary. Last year we went to Mexico with friends, partially for our anniversary, for DH's 30th bday, and just as a vacation. This year though, we have 2 birthday parties to go to so we'll be spending the day driving to parties.

  • We always celebrate but something always comes up.

    1st - I was pregnant, dinner & a movie

2nd - I was breastfeeding, ordered pizza in and baked cupcakes

3rd - we had just moved - Chinese food & champange (the first year that I could drink on our anniversary!)

4th - I had just gotton laid off...Grilled cheese w/ 7 different cheese (Man Vs. Food style) and more champagne & a movie

5th - My parents watched DS and we went to reno for the night and started TTC Baby #2!

  • We usually do something. This year I had to work late on our actual anniversary. He gave me a painting for a present. I was going to take him indoor skydiving, but he said he wasn't interested, so that was kind of it.

Previously (before kids) I rented a beach house for the weekend, then the next year we went on a hot air baloon ride and Temecula wine country, then we went to Mexico on a vacation.

For year 5 (after baby #2), we went out for dinner and a movie. Year 6, I think was a nice dinner. Year 7, we didn't really celebrate.

I think I have to make it up to him.

  • We'll be married 10 years in Feb. We usually do something small, but we decided that every 5 years we'd go big. On our 5th we went to Seattle and Vancouver Island for a week and this June we're going to do a cruise to Alaska.

  • 8yrs, always dinner out & maybe drinks or a movie. We've NEVER gone away overnight but DH tried to arrange it last V-day & no one we trusted to watch them could babysit.
  • 7 years.  We SHOULD celebrate every year but we seem to always be on a summer/family vacation and never manage to get away. . . and then never manage to have a "make up" when we get home.

  • 7 years and we celebrate every year.  Usually just dinner, but we do something to commemorate the day.

  • We were married 7 years in July, and always do something. Some years it's big, some years it's not. One year after DD#1 was born, I remember we went to Red Lobster and the Simpsons movie, and laughed the whole time about how romantic it was. This year, we went overnight to a wine and food festival.

I always makes pancakes with macadamia nuts and Kona coffee in memory of our Hawaiian honeymoon. We also watch our wedding DVD, although we skipped it this year b/c H's grandfather died this past year and it was too painful to see him...

  • We just had our 12th anniversary, we went to a movie.  Some years we do something better but there was a lot going on this year.
    .
  • We celebrated 9 years this past June 29.

We usually go to dinner. The past two years, we have gone out on the Harley for a ride and then to dinner.  Perfection!

Next year, my plan is to go on the Disney cruise around the week of our anniversary (probably 06/30-07/07) with the kids to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.

And not that I'm a planner or anything (LOL!) but for our 20th, I want to go a 3 week trip to CA/Hawaii.  3 days in San Fran, 2 weeks Hawaii, 3 days in San Diego.  With the kids.  I would do that next year but I think they would appreciate it more as teenagers versus 8 and 7 year olds.  If we can swing it financially, we will do it for our 15th!  ;)

  • We just celebrated 6 years on 8/6. We just go out for dinner sans children. I'm sure we will do something a little more special for the tenth year.
