I just bought a manual pump

because I'm an idiot. I forgot my pump this morning in an effort to leave a little bit earlier so I wouldn't be rushing. Well FML not worth it. So I now have two pumps. At least I can keep the manual in my car or something so I have it with me at all times. That's a plus I guess. Sometimes I'm out and about and DH has E at home and I need to either go home and nurse of I want to pump. Well now I can pump.

Re: I just bought a manual pump

  • LOL! I just started using my manual pump as my main pump. I will be keeping it at home and my PISA at work. The manual is much faster but the PISA is hands-free so I can work while I do it. Best of both worlds!

  • I only have a manual pump; I pump once a day and it just really seemed like a lot less hassle/cleanup/setup/expense, so that's what I do, and I don't hate it.  I know a lot of woman have tried manual as their main pump and hate it, but I really don't mind!

  • I didn't get as much as I usually do by 2 ounces but it didn't suck as much as I thought. I'm just glad there is a BRU so close to my work.

  • you are lucky that you had the option of going to BRU. The day I forgot my pump supplies, I ended up hand expressing milk into the toilet.

That totally sucked and I hope to god I never forget my pumping stuff ever again. There is no where close to my office to go buy stuff at.

  • I don't think you're an idiot at all!  I have a manual pump and a double-electric.  I've never had to use the manual, but it's nice to have a back-up.

  • I won a harmony pump a few months before having Caitlin. I love mine. I use it for work in the am, I come home and pump with my pump in style for lunch and then I pump again with the harmony after lunch. I do not mind it at all and it is easier to tote around. Both work great.

Those are the ones I have. I'm pretty happy with how it worked. It didn't drain my boobs like the in style does so I felt really full just two hours later but I was able to go home by then. I can usually go four hours now.

I was told by Medela that the manual can actually be stronger when you get used to it. I can get about 5-6 ounces out during each pump session at work. I have learned some tricks too. I do not have any issues with let down at all so I for the most part do not use that part of the pump. I will start to pump and hold the handle down until the flow stops and then pump again. this helps my hand out!!! at first I was constantly pumping action with my hand it was killing my hands.

I love having a manual one for work and for going out. it is small compact and it helps me not become engorged.
