The pedi suggested today that we give DD some Benadryl to help dry her up from a current sinus infection. We've only given it to her once before when she had an allergic reaction to Penicillin, but that was when she was ~6 months old. I've heard (and nurse confirmed) that Benadryl makes some toddlers hyper. I wasn't planning on giving it to her until bedtime, but now I'm worried. Nurse said she always gives the first dose during the day to see how they'll react. What are the odds she'll be hyper instead of sleepy? Anyone's kid had the hyper reaction?
Re: Quick! Does Benadryl make your kid hyper?
It makes DS drowsy, though not drowsy enough to sleep on a plane. Uh, not that I've tried that. But we have given it to him at bedtime a few times when he's been sick, and it seemed to help him sleep soundly.

for us, benedryl makes him sleepy, enough for the plane whatever, but if he's had some allergies that make us give him a few doses, after 3rd dose he usually gets hyper instead.
