Minnesota Babies

Would love Apple Valley in-home daycare recommendations!

We are having our LO in October and are looking to start daycare starting in January. He would be 3 months at that point.

I have been calling around and we've started interviews, but I was hoping for some good recs from the experienced Bump moms out there Smile Any information (good or bad) will help!

THANK YOU!

  • I have only used centers in AV so i only have advice there.  Are you exclusively looking at in-home?

  • Right now, yes but can't rule out centers, because I haven't found too many in-homes that I'm crazy about.

    Any thoughts on centers??

  • I have used 2 centers in AV...both were KinderCare.  The KinderCare off Cedar seemed to be OK, but seemed to have more babies of teen moms.  Now I don't wanna put that down because their kids are safe and doing well etc, but if you are concerned about the kids at the center coming from similar family values or upbringings then it is something to consider.  My son did well there as an infant, and I pulled him to a different KC so he would be at the one our Elementary school would pick-up/drop-off at.  Then he went to the KC off Essex.  He did well there too.  He loved the other kids and never complained about anything.  They potty trained him quickly and the hours were good.  The director was nice, flexible, and always worked with my schedule.  Downside- there are 2-3 rooms on each side of the daycare that are only split by half-walls so the noise level can be high at times.  Also, G's teacher was great but her voice is unusually loud...which frightened him at first and I was concerned about him getting used to that loud volume.  (Her voice probably helped  my son because he has some hearing issues and probably had no trouble hearing her!)  Again though, the teachers were all very nice and good to work with.  Now we are at American Montessori (because we just need mornings 3 days per week and it is cheaper for good education).  They do all day daycare as well.  I'm  liking them, and Graham does well.  Downside- only take kids 33 months and older.

  • In case you're still checking this - what was the price for the KinderCare in AV? (if you know both part time and full time, that would be awesome)  thanks!
