At my 24 week check up yesterday, my OB said she wants to start seeing me every 2 weeks. This pregnancy is my first, is not high risk, and no other complications. Is seeing the doctor every 2 weeks starting at 26 weeks common? I keep reading online that it's not until 30-32 weeks that doctor wants to see you more often. I asked her and she said she would be more comfortable if she could monitor baby's growth more closely heading into the last leg of the pregnancy.
Is my doctor just being thorough or is this common practice?
Re: Seeing OB every two weeks?
With DS I wasn't high-risk, but I was considered "advanced maternal age" (I was 35) and I didn't start going every 2 weeks until I was 34 weeks. Then again, I had a very easy/normal pregnancy.
I think 32 weeks is common and your doctor is being more thorough.
Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!
BFP #1 6/22/09 EDD: 3/2/10 DS born: 3/8/10
TTC #2 since Dec 2011
BFP #2 7/8/12 EDD: 3/18/12 M/C @ 9w1d: 8/16/12
i was high risk with dd and am high risk again.
i'm seeing a different doc every two weeks, but i think that's normal for me. sounds like yours is being thorough.
I was going every two weeks around then, and started once a week for NSTs at 30 weeks!
However, I was not precisely high risk (although I did see an MFM) but was monitored closely because of a history of SCH. It didn't clear up until 26 weeks, and then I had an episode of placental resistance, so they kept a close eye on me just to be sure.
