We used to eat out about 4-5 times per week and we still did after DS was born. Now, with two, the cost and inconvenience, we eat at home a lot. I don't really like cooking, but I do it and try to come up with creative meals for our family. It's hard.
What do you do to make it easier? Do you freeze meals? I feel like I'm cooking and cleaning all day long. I work mostly afternoons from 6-midnight, so I'm doing 90% of the meals.
I just feel like I'm stuck in a rut and can't get out. At least tell me I'm not alone...
Re: Do you cook a lot?
You are definitely not alone.
I don't freeze meals, but during the week our dinner's are pretty simple- spaghetti & meatballs, tacos, etc.
I cook "nicer" meals on the weekends because DH is home & I have more time to.
Yes, I cook a lot. Pretty much every day. I LOVE to cook though, so it's not a big deal for me........
We like to eat out too, but we're not big "take out" people. We only really have 2 take out places that we like around here.
Same here.
I cook most nights. Sometimes DH cooks and sometimes we get take out or go out. I have probably 15 or 20 staple meals I can make with my eyes shut. I try and make something brand new every few weeks and if it's good I add it to a list of dinners so I don't forget about it. Then try and introduce it to the regular rotation.
I don't meal plan. I buy whatever meat is discounted and when I get home I freeze some and figure out what I'm gonna make with the rest. If I make bolognaise I'll usually freeze enough for dinner for DH, DS and I so we always have at least one meal in the freezer as back up.
I cook most nights, but I love cooking. When I first had ds, and briefly after adding dd, I used my crockpot a lot. I'd also prep a lot when ds was napping, like chopping and then putting in the fridge for later.
My blog has a lot of simple to make recipes. I also am doing a Rachal Ray thing where I prep for 20 dinners in one day and freeze them, so dinner is ready usually in 10 minutes. It's on my blog.
