I'm sure this has been asked before...(onesies)

How many short and long-sleeved onesies did you register for?  Also, what sizes.  I feel like I am asking for too many.  Thanks.

  • I wonder this with everything... How many burp rags, how many sheets, etc.

I think it all comes down with how often you're going to want to do laundry. Personally I'm aiming (and maybe aiming high) for about 10 of each. I figure they usually come in multiples and I plan to put them under everything since it's going to be so cold. I'm not getting near as many newborn sizes though.

  • I usually have about 7 plain onesies in each size. L/s in winter, s/s in summer. I think Gerber sell 7 packs. One would be fine. If you find you have a particularly spilly or poosplosioney baby you could get a second pack. But DS rarely needed a change of outfit when he was little.

Things to consider are if you're washing baby's clothes separate to your own. I never did. I washed it all (except DHs work clothes) together, therefore I didn't need as many clothes overall. I usually had about 10 one pieces and 7 vests in sizes from Prem to 3 -6 months. Once DS hit 6 months size I dressed him more in "real" clothes so he had one pieces for night and clothes for day.

I'm no help with size. DS was 5 weeks early. I had no baby shower and all his clothes were bought in half an hour the day before we left hospital! Prem was swimming on him, lol!

  • I was thinking 7-10 would be good.  One for each day plus a few extra in case of accidents.  I don't like doing laundry more than once a week!

  • I didn't plan on registering them. I figured people will buy them even if they are not on the resgistry? But I have seen 7-10 being the number people say are needed.

  • Yeah, 7-10 is about what I have & it was plenty for DS.  Especially with all the other cute colored & designed ones you will be sure to get.

Yep, for DS that's what I had, and some (about 3 or 4) zipper sleepers. The button ones were cute too, but the zipper ones are SO much easier. I was lucky too like PP, and DS never really had to be changed into another outfit.
