C-sections

Period after c-section

Odd question here...have you noticed any difference with your periods after cs? More specifically, cramping before period? Instead of normal cramping I now get very sore, tender and achy in my lower belly down by my incision. It assume it is a recovering uterus trying to function properly. I don't know if that makes sense.

Re: Period after c-section

  • I have noticed more cramps after my csection.  THis month wasn't as crampy, but I don't think it was technically a period, I was on seasonique, and it was  breakthrough, but it came when it was supposed to.
  • In the year after my c-section I noticed period cramps were a little stronger and a little more painful than they had been in the past, also my usual 28 days cycles turned into 35 day cycles. But other than that they haven't been too different than before my section.

  • After about 8 months, my period cramps returned to the "norm" for me.  Although, BFing will also factor in on how your body responds.  I got my PP AF at 8 weeks and I was BFing.  It has been right on time every month, but it was definitely more cramping involved while BFing and right after I stopped.

  • I have always had pretty painful periods, so the cramping has been about the same. The only thing different that I noticed was the first period I had was really heavy. Since then, everything is pretty much back to normal.

  • I don't think this is just a c-section issue. I have heard a lot of people having increased cramping after having a baby. I have had two c-sections I didn't experience more cramping after either of them personally. But it does make sense that the uterus is weaker and you could experience more discomfort. Although I did have a WAY heavier PP this time then I did with DS or ever before. This time I had reconstructive also so I don't know if that played something to do with it.

  • I get crampy about a week before and my incision itches like crazy!

  • I was wondering this as well. My first pp wasn't bad but the second one was horrible with the cramping. I noticed that my cramps are now really painful where the scar is.

  • It took 10 months to get my PP period. I weaned at 10 months.

My period is lighter and I barely have any cramps! My period is shorter now too!
