3rd Trimester

friends comment ...

a friend of mine recently made a comment to me that people pregnancys tend to be reflective of their personalities ...

i dont know how true this is ... im sure it varies WIDELY. but, just curious, have you found your?pregnancy?to be 'congruent' with your personality??

* * *?

i think im pretty laid back in general - easy going for the most part and my pregnancy has been very smooth & uneventful. My first was the same. So I guess it proves true in my experience.?

Re: friends comment ...

  • i am high strung and a worry wart, and my pregnancy has been 100% textbook, normal, uneventful.

the only thing in common is i am a hyper person with a super active baby.

Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • most of my pregnancy was smooth sailing and overall pretty easy but this last few weeks have been torture. I can't sleep, eat half the stuff I like or seem to stop gaining a million pounds.

I guess if it holds true then I am easy going for the most part but have my moments of utter bitchyness... actually sounds about right... LOL

  • I'm not sure about this, mostly b/c being pg has been pretty hard for me - really bad m/s for 3 months, sciatica, back pains, etc so I haven't really enjoyed it.  But in general I like life and am totally happy person...

  • I have had a great pregnancy with no problems and really no complaints. In fact, my aunt said last weekend that I make pregnancy look easy.

However, in real life I am not that way at all. I am a control freak, always anxious, and very high-strung.... so I guess my personality and my pregnancy have been completely opposite.

  • Well I'm a control freak as well and as of right now everything has been going pretty normal and on schedule with the baby which is the way I like it.  I have always been a puker and I had ms for about 20 wks.

  • Well there are always exceptions but I do kind of agree with this.  I have a couple friends that are complete hypochondriacs and they had every symptom you can possibly imagine.

Plus - I know I'll probably get flamed... and I DO realize that there truly is medical proof to this - but I just love the girls who go on and on about how much their sense of smell has increased, who have insane cravings beginning at 4 weeks, etc.  Puh-leez.  Maybe I'm just the weird one!

  • Mine has been completely opposite. I am very laid back, but this pregnancy has been very hard. Between M/S, siatica pain, acid reflux...y list is quite large...
  • Hmm....unless I have multiple personalities, that is definitely not true!  My first pg was very easy- no complications, and Erin was born on her due date after 24 hrs of not so bad back labor.  My 2nd pg was disastrous, but fortunately had a very good outcome.  Thought I was having a m/c early, ds had a 2 vessel cord, bleeding in the 3rd tri, months of preterm contrax and I was in horrible pain for the last couple months of pg.  Connor was born 2.5 wks before his due date after 3 hrs of awful back labor.  This pg I've felt good, had issues w/ bleeding in 1st tri, was dx'd w/ complete placenta previa, which has completely resolved, but now baby might be transverse.  So, yeah.  My pregnancies have differed wildly, and I don't think I've changed!
  • I generally only find this true with drama queens. I think people who like to whine about pregnancy probably whine about a lot of stuff. I always think that those who cry about how done and over it and sick of being pregnant they are (particularly before about 36 weeks) probably annoy the living crap out of their coworkers, even when pregnancy isn't a factor.
  • I am pretty laid back and easy going as well and so far my pregnancy has been also. No m/s, no extreme exhaustion, no getting up to pee in the middle of the night, minor back pain, good complexion. But, I still have some time to go!

I completely agree with this - you just said it better than me.  There are some girls who take the whole 'don't lift anything over 10-20 pounds' wayyy too seriously.  There was a girl at work who wouldn't lift any reams of paper and would call people to come pick up things from her desk rather than walking them over there herself simply because she was pregnant.  It was ridiculous.

  • if that's the case, I'm a bigger pain in the a$$ than I realize! I'm really active though and she is too.

Pretty much the same for me. I had a little bleeding at 13 weeks, but it was nothing (and I did freak about it). Otherwise it's been very normal, pretty easy. I've enjoyed most of it so far. We were interviewing a pediatrician the other day and she said I seemed 'easygoing', which made me LOL in her office. I'm hardly easygoing, I guess I just like being pg :)

  • I don't know about that..

I'm a high strung individual who is really active and hyper.

This baby is soooo gentle and calm - it's definitely DH!

My pregnancy has been great and easy and lots of fun *knocks on wood*
