What bottles do you use?

I still use the Medela (5 oz) once but sometimes my baby wants more than that. He's using formula now, no more breastmilk. Was wondering what other bottles mom use and how often and how much do your babies drink? My baby boy is 27 weeks now and is well into solids (likes everything so far).

Thanks,

Felicia

Re: What bottles do you use?

  • We use the Tommee Tippee.  She BF and drinks pumped milk...I think she drinks 15-20 oz plus 2-3 other BF sessions.

  • We use Dr. Brown's bottles.  They go up to 8 or 9oz I believe.  DD eats about 6 or 6 1/2 oz bottles 4 or 5 times a day.  She's eating higher calorie formula still so she eats less because of that.  She's well into solids, too.

  • We use NUK.  They come in both the 5 and 10 oz sizes which we have both of, even tho I BF.  At daycare she eats just 3-4.5 oz so I don't use the bigger ones there.  H uses those because they're clean if I work right after classes when he watches her.  I have no clue what amount she eats BM wise but I've just now started to increase her solids and how often she gets them :-}

  • we use Playtex Ventaire. We started out using the 6oz bottles and then went to the 9oz bottles when he started drinking a full 6 ounces. They have a lot of pieces to clean, but we've had a good experience with them.
  • Tommee Tippee and Avent bottles.

  • We just stopped using Medela because the medium flow was too slow for him and they don't have a fast flow option.  We switched to Avent and I love them.  They're pretty simple - just one more piece than the Medelas - and come in 9 oz size.  We started him right away on the stage 4 nipple which is a little fast but he's getting used to it.

We're doing solids 3-4 times per day and he eats about 25-30 oz of formula in addition to that.

  • We use the playtex advanced. He eats 6 4.5 oz as well as two meals of solids

  • We switched from using Medela bottles to using Born Free.  They have a lot of pieces to clean but they seem to work well for DD.

  • Avent 9 oz bottles. She does 24 oz a day plus three solids meals.

  • We use Dr. Brown's, and he eats 7 oz in 4 bottles and then his last bottle of the night is about 5 oz.

  • We use both Dr. Browns and Avent for pumped BM.  I love the bigger sized Dr. browns b/c they fit on my pump and I need something that big b/c I can pump a lot sometimes!

  • We still use the Medella sometimes, and also Tommee Tippee.  C is EBF, although he starts at the sitter Tues. when I go back to work and he will be getting 2 bottles of breastmilk a day...I think he takes around 5 ounces a feeding...I'll know for sure in the next few weeks when I see how much he takes.  We are also well into solids!

    Avent 9 oz bottles.

We have these and the 10 oz NUKs. DS likes the avent better cuz he can suck em down faster. But I had purchased the NUK ones before he was born so I use both. =p

Same here. DD has only been taking 4-5 oz lately, though. She'd rather have solids.

  • Cheap Evenflo glass bottles.  :)  I don't know if LO would have benefited from some fancier bottles earlier on that claim to reduce gas/reflux, but at around 6 months when I think their flapper thingy matures, the spit-up decreased by a lot.  It was starting to get better around 5 months.

The most he drinks anymore is 6 oz, first thing in the morning.  He gets 5.5 or 5 at other times of the day.

  • I use the tommy tippee bottles. He takes 4-5 bottles at 5oz each.
