I sliced them up and pureed them with peaches when I froze them. I have never frozen them alone. They did turn brown, but i had no issues. Don't think I would, either. They are far too easy to just mush up when I want to give them to DS.

I mashed and froze. Mine didn't really turn that brown, a little, but not a lot. I like to freeze them because bananas don't get eaten at our house. They just rot on the counter - freezing them ensured that they wouldn't go bad.
I freeze bananas all the time but I dont mash them. I freeze them in chunks and give them to DS frozen in a mesh feeder. He LOVES them that way. When I freeze them in chunks they don't really get brown. Maybe slightly but not bad at all.
It's not bad. They turn a little brown, but they're perfectly fine. A hates bananas to begin with, but she doesn't hate them any more when they're frozen/thawed than she does when they're fresh.
FWIW, I found that it was actually a waste of time freezing bananas. It sounded like a good idea at first, but it was more work to freeze them than it was just to mush one up whenever I want it. We just buy a small bunch of bananas every few weeks, and we eat bananas for a few days until they're gone.
This here too, though I never even attempted to freeze the banana.
