How long did it take your LO to...

...figure out a sippy cup? Particularly if your LO wasn't much of a bottle user?

I started offering a sippy cup of water with my LO's one solid meal a day about a week ago. He only wants to chew on it. When I tip it up so he'll get some water, he isn't a fan. DS is EBF and has rarely taken a bottle (maybe 3x ever), so I don't expect him to figure out the sippy overnight, but I am just curious about how long it took your LOs.

  • Keep giving it to him so he gets used to it. Eventually he will probably take it.

DS chewed on his more than anything when he was 6 months and now that he is over 8 months he is alot better with it.

  • sigh...LO will chew on it, bang it, then drop it.  Only if I hold it for him will he drink it

  • E loves sippy cups. I have to pry it out of her hands most of the time. She'll drink water from it but mainly just likes to chew on it which I think is very common. I'm sure it feels good on their little gums. He'll get the hang of it soon!

  • We've tried several, starting around 4 mos, but she's much better at handling an open cup, so that's what we generally use.

We do the same. I'm not really a fan of the sippy cup anyways. If my kid wants a drink of something, he can drink it at the table just as I was taught when I was a kid. I'm old school like that.

  • V was chewing on it up until this week. She has figured out that she has to tip it back to actually drink out of it. I've been offering it with every meal since 6 months, I thought she was never going to figure it out.

  • Try the straw kind. She got it in the first attempt.
