I am 24 weeks pregnant and have been in my current job for nearly two years. I work on-site at one of my company's clients and have heard rumblings that the client may be cutting ties with my company in the near future, which would likely leave me out of a job. I'm starting to get worried as the only reason I stayed at my current job for this amount of time is so that I can get maternity leave (I can't afford to take any time off of work after the baby is born otherwise), but now it looks like this might no longer be the case. So, my question to you all is a) Have you ever had to look for a new job while pregnant and b) know of any good recruiters to contact for contract jobs for a business analyst/data analyst/technical project managers? I need all of the help I can get!
Re: Job Searching While Pregnant?
I was given notice of a lay off when I was 17wks with DS1 and then actually laid off at 32 wks. The hiring process tends to move pretty slow these days, so I would advise applying for things like crazy right now.
Interviewing while very pregnant can be interesting. They cannot legally ask you about it unless you bring it up. Do what you feel comfortable with, but it may be easier addressing it. If you choose to tell, I would maybe tell them when you're due and how you plan to have your baby taken care of.
You cannot technically collect unemployment for 6-8 weeks after delivery because they consider you "diabled".
Let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.
Aerotek seems to be a really good recruiting firm, I went through them with good luck and many of my friends have. I would highly recommend going through a recruiter that knows your situation and can supply you with job leads that fit your situation. I know they have over 60 recruiters in cities, and once you register with one recruiter they all have access to your information to help you out.
