this is the second week in a row that my hip/but has hurt badly enough that 2 tylenol only dull it. i got a newsletter from webmd about sciatica and it sounds like i have it. i'm going to deal with it  until my a/s , and just self manage  with stretches and prenantal yoga.

any suggestions/advice? sorry post and run since i gotta clock back in!

Re: possibly have sciatica

  • There's not a ton you can do unfortunately.  My OB said to concentrate on my posture, which has helped a little bit.  Prenatal Yoga has taught me some good stretches for when I have a bad sciatica day.  There isn't a ton you can do for it unfortunately!  I know it's rough...

  • I have nasty sciatica and through all my physical therapy the best thing that they taught me is to lay on either a full water bottle, tennis ball, rolled up towel where your pelvic bone meets your spinal cord. Make sure to put your feet on the floor and just lay there. It can hurt really bad but once you get off of it it will feel lots better. Doing that stretches the sciatic nerve along with the muscles that can pinch it. Good luck!!

  • I had it all through the first trimester.  Stretching helped, as well as making sure to pick things up from my knees, rather than bending over.  Other than that I just lived through it until it finally went away because my uterus rose high enough.  Good luck!

  • I have sciatic issues even when not pregnant.  Chiropractic care and physical therapy are your best bets.  Meds only mask the pain, not help alleviate it.

  • No advice, but I'm sorry you are having this pain! It sounds awful. Hoping you can find something to relieve it.

  • I also have sciatica (symptoms popped up about week 10). Going to the chiropractor helped a ton! The first time around it brought my pain, which was about an 7 down to a 2. It was amazing, and I felt better for about 3 weeks. The pain got worse once it flared up again, but I found out my hip actually popped out of place, which explained a lot ? but since the last adjustment I've felt great and actually don't mind going on walks.
