Re: Do I have a shot? WDYT?

  • What about it as a sensory integration disorder?    Or a disordered eating?

  • IDK are they going to have to do all that dental work again when she gets her permanent teeth?  (I'm confused by your reference to baby teeth).

  • What are her eating issues?  I remember your dental posts, but not your eating posts.  Have you discussed her eating issues with the pediatrician before?

R9, do you know anything about sensory integration disorder being covered by insurance?  Do you work with SI kids?  I've got an SI kid and so far we can't get insurance to cover even one dime of his therapy.  Insurance considers it a "developmental" problem and not a medical problem.  If you know any tricks to get sensory integration covered, I would be grateful!

  • What makes you think that is associated with her teeth?

My son eats like that so I have some experience.  do you have her in feeding therapy?

  • of course!  I'm actually surprised it is not covered by medical insurance.

and I was just wondering if you were doing anything to help with her eating.  I know how hard it is and I am always looking for tricks.

  • Its worth a shot.

Have you poked around on the internet to see if other people have found a way to get insurance help with their kids with the same condition and how they did it?  Its such an expensive process for you that I really, really hope you get some insurance help.

  • I just did a little reading and it sounds like it is extremely common for your medical insurance to deny coverage.  :(  Unbelievable for a genetic condition, especially in thsi day and age where there is so much talk about the mouth being the gateway to the rest of the body and "healthy mouth, healthy body" talk out there.  I work in the dental field, so I know how many thousands of dollars you are talking about.

I really hope your pedi sees and understands the obstacle you are trying to overcome and offers some help.

Why not try writing to Dr. Oz?  Send a pic of your beautiful daughter and talk about your family's history.  Maybe something will come of it.

  • If I'm being totally honest, I don't think you're whining AT ALL.  It sucks ass.
