Antique White vs White

Quick question, as I am shopping online right now... if you were doing the baby's room in white furniture, and found a great deal on a piece that is in "Antique White" would you go ahead and get it? I have no idea what the difference is, so please enlighten me!

TIA as always ladies!

Re: Antique White vs White

  • the store i got my crib from had an antique white one next to a white one and they were definitely different colors...

then again, all companies will call their colors what ever they want- so who knows!

  • We are also doing the nursery in white, and I wouldn't buy anything online that said antique white.  To me that means an off-white that might look dingy next to other bright white pieces.
  • I would go with white. White is white. You can find other white stuff to go with it if you want other pieces.

If you buy Antique White, you'll be stuck buying from the same manufacturer to find matching Antique White pieces.

  • Antique white usually has warmer undertones than "white white," but if the pieces aren't sitting right next to each other, it may not be that big of a deal.

  • Antique white is more of an off white color. There is a big difference compared to white. When we ordered DD's furniture we ordered an antique white thinking it would be the same once we got it it was completely off white. We ended up returning it and buying a White set. Keep in mind that the off white furniture is a hard color to match (toy boxes, shelves, etc).
