So last week I went in for my 1 hour test, remember, all the blown veins and torture! Well the results came back that I failed which really surprised me. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it or not, but I'm not a sweet eating person, so I was shocked and sad.
Yesterday, I went for the three hour and endured more torture: she went in on the side of my right wrist. It worked for the first vile but then she went for the second and was just digging and digging. She called me "Jaime" which isn't my name and then apologized to which I said, "You can call me whatever you want, just please get it in!" Ha, ha!
We had more problems but eventually got all we needed. Now my right arm looks like I went on a drug binge with all the bruising from last week and then yesterday. Super!
Anyways, they called with my results and I'm fine! I really think my failed first test had to do with me drinking orange juice and eating ketchup the morning of that 1 hour test. I know, I'm really smart! ![]()
So note to all you ladies when the times come, drink water and eat plain toast!
Re: Glucose test
I would swap the plain toast with a protein of some sort, or at least add a protein. Carbohydrates convert to sugar in the body.
Glad you don't have to deal with the gestational diabetes business!

With my son I didn't know I was doing the 1 hour test until I got to the office. I had eaten a McGriddle from McDonald's and the hash brown and I think I got an orange juice. Maybe a Sprite. Needless to say, I failed the one hour! I eventually passed the 3 hour but it wasn't fun for me at all - I couldn't keep it down. The one hour didn't bother me but the 3 hour made me spew. I hope I just pass the one hour this time and have no issues.
Sorry about your veins - I used to have the same issue, even butterfly needles would make mine collapse. Somehow I guess my body overcame it because I have no issues with it now but it sucked when they thought I had Lupus and had to be tested every few weeks. They eventually used the veins in the top of my feet once and that one hurt! Sorry about the bruising but yay for passing!
She uses the butterfly needles on me! As far as going in your foot, OUCH! I'm just glad it's all over for now. No more testing until the third trimester!
The 3 hour you have to fast, so no drinking after midnight.
I ate at 6 pm the previous night and then I had to drink that stuff and my stomach was doing flip flops and not the good king. I really thought I was going to throw up.
