I had a CVS done with my last pregnancy, and will probably have one again this time. It is usually done at 13 weeks. There was a risk, but it was minimal. They did my CVS through the cervix, but they can also do it through the abdomen. Through the cervix was more uncomfortable than painful. I little more so than when you have a PAP done. I would assume that through the abdomen would be more painful because they use a large needle, but I do not know for certain. My doctor was awesome and super patient with me and DH, so she talked us through the whole procedure.
My dr is one of teh best in the city, I was told 1 in 400 for both. I just got NT results which were favorable so not sure Ill do CVS that was scheduled on Friday. For me, the risk outweighs my odds. Both are a gamble either way....its a tough choice!
