Something that started off cute started to worry me...

Maybe I am just over-reacting, but oh well. Better safe than sorry.

This morning it felt like both babies were hanging out on the left side of my tummy (they're placed one on top of the other) because it was a bit harder on the left side than the right. Which was fine and I thought it was neat that I could feel them there.
Well because of where they were when I touched my tummy it felt somewhat sensitive, but I figured it was just either my uterous stretching funny becuase of how they're positioned or my muscles.
But for the past hour now the constant little sensitivity on the left side of my tummy turned into actual pain when bending over or breathing deeply so I called my OB just to clarify if it was just muscle pain. So he said as long as I wasn't bleeding there isn't anything to worry about, he double checked my ultrasound to make sure there wansn't a cyst either. He kind of giggled at me when I said both babies were hanging out on the left side and said that could be why it's a bit sensitive, but that if it does get worse or not tolerable anymore to go to the Maternity Floor. He just told me to take it easy today and not to do anything too strenuous.

If it is just the babies giving me this pain, they are little brats for scaring mommy like this already.
I guess there wasn't really a point to this post haha, just felt like getting it out of my system.

  • Aw, I could see how that might seem alarming, especially if it is the first time you have felt that kind of sensitivity! I still have twinges or things that kind of make my brain go into worry mode.

My left side has been hurting for the past week or so.  I just had an u/s yesterday and there was nothing there that they could see.  If you figure it out please let me know.  The only thing I can think of (besides regular growing pains) is that sleeping on the left side is causing more pressure and therefore more aches.  It is not fun to have it hurt whenever I walk or move but as far as my docs could tell there was nothing wrong.  I hope you feel better soon and that it is just your little ones knocking you around in there.

ETA: when I say left side I mean front of the left side of my stomach, near where my ovary would be but it doesn't feel like RLP.

I'm sorry that you've been feeling this as well. It doesn't feel like RLP to me either, but I was also thinking maybe sleeping on my left is causing this as well.
Me too it's the front left, but more from the top of my belly all the way down.

  • Maybe it's a mix of them being on one side coupled with round ligament pain?  I would only get the round ligament pain in my left side and not on the right when I would move too quickly or bend over too fast.
  • I've had all sorts of weird aches and pains this past week.  A friend read that around week 15 the ache and pain feelings would change and be more intense, and so I'm assuming it's just normal stretching and growing.  But it's not fun!
