I will start this off with an apology to anyone who would like to have this problem...
I have not gained ANY weight. None, zero, zip...I am actually about 15 lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight (started dieting before I knew I was pregnant). And I'm not showing at all. No maternity clothes, still in my regular clothes and they aren't even getting tight (no bloat even!)
Now, the fine print...I am a big girl to begin with (5'4" and 202 as of last dr visit). My older sister was showing around 5 months and she was about my size when she got pregnant. But, she lost her baby after he was born to a heart defect so I'm really freaking out a little when I stop to think about it.
Dr found heartbeat fine at the last appt but I have tried twice with my home doppler and nothing (may not be strong enouth, not looking in the right spot, etc. so I try not to worry too much about it).
I know I shouldn't listen to others or compare myself but I get a lot of "you don't even look pregnant" comments (which should make me feel good but have the opposite effect!).
Please calm me down...
Re: I know I shouldn't worry, but....
I'm sure you're totally fine! If you're worried, maybe talk to your doctor? My friend was of similar build to you and she lost 30 lbs with her first!
Well, I'm taller than you and weigh more than you. I am so afraid that something is going to happy to this baby that I really have to tell myself it's completely out of my control and just do my best to control what I can about this pregnancy and be healthy. I can tell you that my aunt, who was probably my size when she got pregnant with her twins, only gained probably 15 lbs the whole pregnancy. Here's what I'm thinking for myself, I'm eating healthier and more conscious of what goes into my body being pregnant so I would expect me to lose weight because of it. I only gained 1 lb between weeks 8 - 12. I think I've gained a few lbs at 15wks but will know for sure next week. I've heard a million times over the years that me being of larger stature will make things "different" if/when I ever get pregnant. Well, here I am and so far things have been ok. Are you searching for the heartbeat in the same general area ever time? I had an u/s at 8 wks because my cycle was always so off, I had no idea when I conceived. So, from the u/s I knew where the baby "generally" was at. At 12wks, the nurse went to look for the heartbeat and couldn't find it, of course telling me don't worry if she can't find because it can be very difficult until about 16wks. I then told her where the baby was in the u/s so she decided to listen to me and found the heartbeat immediately. It's very hard waiting in between appointments and without feeling our little one's moving there's constant panic that something's wrong. I've had to tell myself that "no sign" is a good sign...no bleeding, no major cramping, no issues are a good thing and have to leave it at that. We can worry ourselves to death through this process but that's soooo not a good thing. Having dealt with fertility issues for many years, I never thought I'd get to experience this whole process but here I am. Trying to enjoy it as much as I can, though it's been difficult through the sickness. Again, take nothing bad going on as a sign that things are ok! Best of luck to you!
(Sorry for the long post)
Did your dr. say anything about your uterus position or if it's tilted or anything? One of my co-workers is due a full month before me, and she is a tiny little thing, but she is not showing at all because she has something with her uterus where it is positioned farther back in her body. If that's the case, it's nothing to worry about, just a little different!
I am a bigger gal, and I went from being bloated, to nothing, to finally now getting a bit of a bump. You can only really tell when I am naked, though. HTH!

I'm sure it's fine! You said you're a "big girl" anyway, and the recommended weight gain is less than the standard amout for women with a little extra to start with.
I've gained a lot less with this pregnancy than I did with my first, but I also started out around 15lbs heavier this time.
