Diaper size NB

Hi girls! Its getting close for me so I'm preparing and have a quick diaper question.

I'm hearing mixed info about size NB diapers, that even though they say they go up to 10lbs, some babies that weigh less are outgrowing them before 10lbs.

What is your experience with size NB diapers? Thanks!!

Well I had a preemie, but he has always worn a size bigger then what the wieght on the packages have suggested (the "right" sized ones always leaked).

I would not buy any NB size. Most the time the hospital will let you take what ever is left in your room home with you. So you will have at least a pack of the NB if you need them before having to run out and get more.

Hayden was a 5lb 10oz 36 weeker so he started in preemie diapers for 2 weeks. Then we moved to NB and spent about 4 weeks in them before moving to size 1's.

ETA: Our hospital didn't use NB's but size 1's whichwent up to his arm pits. LOL! Thankfully they saw how small he was and gave us some preemies to take home.

we only purchased 1 box but Aiden is still in them. That being said he is also only 7 lbs

My DD was 6 lbs when she born. She wore NB diapers for 6 weeks. She was about 9 1/2 lbs when we switched. I would definitaly have some on hand but depends how big your baby is on how many you will need.

Eliza was 8lbs at birth & wore NB size for a few weeks at least. We only had size 1s at home so we needed a few boxes. This time I bought 1 box of Nb swaddlers & 1 box of size 1s & we'll go from there. Good luck!

We used them for just over 2 weeks then switched to 1's. I think they are worth having but wouldn't get too many.

DD wore 1 package worth. They are nice to have until the cord stump falls off but there is a decent chance that baby will be more than ready to move up to the next size after that!

Everyone told us we wouldn't need a lot of NB diapers, to just get size 1. DS was average size at birth (7 lbs 2.5 oz and 21 inches long) and wore NB size for 2 months. Plus I love the Pampers NB ones with the stripe down the middle. It would change colors when they were wet. And the little cut-out so it doesn't rub on their umbilical cord stub.

Roman was 5lb 7oz when he was born and we had no NB size diapers so we had to go buy some on the way home from the hospital! He was in Pampers Swaddlers and Target NB size until about a week ago (so until 7-8 weeks).

I would say he's about 9 lbs now and fits into the pampers size 1 just fine. So he grew out of the NB diapers before the suggested 10 lbs. I guess it just depends on your baby's weight at birth. If he is an 8 lb baby the size 1's should work.

We switched to size 1 around 9 lbs. This was at about 5-6 weeks old (I have small babies, she was 6lbs 8 oz. at birth).

Tessa was 7lbs at birth (just about 4 weeks ago), and she is still in NB diapers. I had to go buy this size because our cloth diapers and size 1 diapers were WAY TOO HUGE. I'm hoping that she'll be out of the NB soon and can then start with the CDs.

My boy was 9 lbs when he was born and after being in the nicu for 5 days he was in size 1 diapers when he came home. I returned a couple packages of NB diapers but the ones I had already opened will be given to a friend who is due in a couple of months.

It seems like there are lots of different opinions on NB diapers, so maybe get a couple packs but dont open them. Exchange them for bigger sizes if needed.

Our LO's were in NB size until about 1.5 months. Our DS was actually in the premie size for the first week or so even. Our DD was 6pds4oz and our DS was 5pds13oz.

My daughters were both around 6 lb, 10 oz at birth and were each in NB for ~8 weeks or so. They gained weight well but neither of them were extremely large babies (typically between the 25-50th percentiles for weight the first few months).
