behind driver's seat or passenger?

I'm going to move Lorenzo's car seat- so that he doesnt associate the move from the center with the new baby...just not sure if he should be behind me or the passenger side...

I'm thinking passenger because I can hand things to him easier (sippy cup, paci, etc) if I'm in the drivers seat. If I have to get to DS#2 - his needs would require stopping anyway...

am I missing some reason L should be behind me?

Re: behind driver's seat or passenger?

  • DD's seat is behind mine so that I don't have to go around to the other side of the car to get her in and out.  However, seeing that you're going to have an infant soon I would think I would want the infant behind me and walk around the other side for the toddler.  So yeah, the passenger side would get my vote. :-)

  • We put E behind me and A behind the passenger seat.  I can see E well with the mirror and I make sure that he has everything he needs before we leave. I did not really think about it because DH took them to work and had them installed and that is the way that they did it.  It has worked well for us.

  • We have DD behind the passenger seat and will be putting LO2 behind the driver seat.  This way she doesn't have to make the change and I like not having to get her out on the road side.  She is still RF but once we turn her around it will be easier for me to hand her stuff if necessary.

  • I prefer to have Gavin behind the passenger seat because I could hand him things, but if our infant seat is behind the driver side, DH can't adjust the seat when he drives my car, so G goes behind the driver and the infant seat for Riley is behind the passenger.
  • Charlie is behind the passenger & Paul is behind the driver.

I am nervous to get a van- Charlie gets to boot to the way back!

  • Evan is behind the passenger seat. It's easier for me to turn around at red lights to hand him something, or talk to him. And if we go to anyone's house and park on the street, I'm not getting him out into traffic. Plus when DH drives he likes the seat all the way back, so it wouldn't give E much room if he was behind the driver.
  • Passenger seat - with the RFing convertible, I coiuldn't put the driver's seat back all the way with the Britax RFing.  Also then I could see & reach DD.
  • eve's behind the passenger, and Natalie is behind the driver in my car. we did it because we thought that would allow the driver seat to go back a little further, but it turns out both seats take about an equal amount of space.

As far as the handing things.. yes it does work out well that way, but I am forever fishing for Natalie's paci.. I don't know how much easier it would be if she were behind the passenger seat.. The one thing is, i usually get Eve out of the car first, so if I'm alone, I have to walk around the car to the other side to get her out and then come back for natalie.. its not such a huge deal.. but it is one thing..  in the long run, i don't think it really matters.
