Geez, copay for Synagis is $$

$166 a month.  I just got a call telling me his shots were approved.  But, damn, that was more than I was expecting.

  • I can't wait to find out what ours will be... But ya know that is the problem with healthcare, they don't want to pay (even in full) for things that prevent bigger healthcare issues. One would think better to pay for the vaccine then to pay for possible re-hospitalization!

I think out of pocket the shots are about $1500.  So, I guess it is better than the full amount.

  • BEST ADVICE- don't stress. I was stressing over it for a while b/c there was no way we could pay them off right now. I am realizing more everyday that we did nothing wrong but have beautiful perfect babies and that it is justmoney and I don't want it taking away my joy. We are paying like 6 different people 10 bucks a month- I know it will be forever before we are paid off, hopefully when we get tax refund next year we can take care of it. Just do what you can and don't stress. enjoy your children!

  • Costs really depend on your coverage and if you have met your deductible- oh and the bigger your child is the more expensive the medication is.

Our guys were approved for 3 months last year- we didn't pay anything for the first two- we had met our deductible that year (between IF costs and a high risk pregnancy).  The last we had changed insurances and it was a new year- so we had to pay $350 each--- yep $700 for one month.

  • Ask your dr or the pharmacy providing Synagis about the copay card. You pay the first $50/month and the card pays above that to a max of $225. Good luck.
  • DS was denied. The pedi is fighting like heck to get him approved, but he's done so well that they will not grant it. We could swing $150-200 for a copay, but $1500 a month? No. Way.
