Back from vacay!

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!  Although we were evacuated on Friday we still got 90% of our vacation in.  It was really nice to kick back and spend some time with DH and L.  Friday sucked!  It took us 9 hours just to get out of Virginia.  We went west and then North, thinking that the bay bridge would be a nightmare, but I'm guessing either way would have been terrible.  DH was not happy on Friday and couldn't understand why if the storm wasn't supposed to hit until Saturday night we had to leave on Friday.  Saturday morning we found out a tornado had touched down and tore the roof off of 3 houses right by the one we had rented.  Needless to say he was happy we were out of there.  I've been through a few of these hurricanes and couple of evacuations, when they tell you to go, you just do it!

    sorry your vacation was cut a bit short, but glad you guys had fun! 9 hours stuck in traffic w/ a toddler (and crabby husband!) sounds like no fun!

    All of this!  Nine hours in a car alone would be hard enough, but with a toddler and unhappy husband sounds like a nightmare!  I'm glad you guys got out safely!

    I should rephrase...he wasn't unhappy the whole time, he just wasn't happy as we were packing up.  He was fine once we got on the road.  The portable DVD player was a blessing!  I'm so glad I borrowed one!  Liam did so well up until the last 20 minutes on Friday night, and then from about Cortland on he was whinned a little, but for the most part he was a really good traveler.
