So after the ob in L&D told me that she thinks I have yeast infection, I bought monistat 3 and used one of the 3 treatments yesterday. Now, I have more yellow discharge with pink in it, vag is very itchy on the inside, and it burns down there. I still have 2 more treatments of this left, so don't know if I should continue or stop. Monistat instructions did say that some itchiness should occur. Should I call the emergency #?

Re: Would you call the emergency #?
Yes, the ob said that monistat 3 is ok to use while PG, just not the one day treatment. The discharge is different. I had dark brown mucusy discharge before I used monistat. Now the discharge is yellow with some pink in it.
Sounds ok to me. I even had some bleeding when i used it but i wasn't pg. at the time.
make sure you insert the applicator way up there to prevent the burning and make sure you lay down immediately after you insert it. You'll definitely have discharge b/c the stuff comes back out and it may be mixed w/ the yeast that was in there. icky i know.
feel better.
Thank you Rachael. Since I had my cervix check yesterday, I am not too concerned just didn't know if this was normal to experience with this treatment. After reading your response, what I am going through seems pretty normal. How long did you have this yucky discharge after finishing monistat treatment?
While I haven't experienced this, it does sound like it's within normal range from what other people have said. Sounds like monistat puts our vags on turbo for its "self-cleaning oven" capabilities. This place really is a great resource. Where else could we have access to hundreds of women to ask about our discharge in any number of situations.
Now I am all grossed out, but glad this is normal. Definitely all very icky!!!
Thank you!!! you have helped me stay out of lot of stress this weekend!
I knew that itchness and burning were YI symptoms, but thought that monistat would take them away instead of making it worse. It seems like things get a little worse before they get better. I am definitely more calm now after talking to everyone on the board today. I may even spend some time doing some baby room stuff!
All of my YI were pre- pregnancy, but I definitely always note that the symptoms get worse before better. The medicine breaks up the spores and gives your body more yeast to have a reaction too, so it's not at all unexpected. Hang in there! Tomorrow will probably be better!
