ack help!

What am I going to do about my climber?  There is no way for me to block off the kitchen table as you can see from picture below as its a booth in the kitchen!  I can't block off the kitchen either as its very open.  I grab him off and tell him"'DOWN on the floor" but he doesn't pay any attention and immediately tries to get back up.  I'm scared he is really gonna hurt himself!

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
  • He's super cute

You might need to make a makeshift baby gate at the openings - so that he can't climb up onto the booth

  • EEk I don't have any advise for you. I think Lauri's daughter Audrey does that as well. She may have some advise for you. I would worry that he would grab the light fixture it looks like it is in his reach.

By the way those jammies are so cute. Robbie has the same ones. So cozy. Is Cruz texting?

  • I have no advice, but love the picture! I just want to grab him and kiss him!!
  • we put dining room chairs at each end of the booth so then he climbed under the table and got up on the back side from under the table...he is a serious MONKEY!  Should I be swatting him on the behind or hand.... he wouldn't understand time out's yet?

  • I haven't had that exact problem. Whenever we had a serious issue, I would take DD and put her on the floor telling her not do whatever she was doing. I would do it 3 times, and then lock her and myself in her bedroom taking her completely away from the situation (I called it a timeout, but I was in there with her). DD usually cried, and when she stopped we would go out of her room. I would do this over and over until she got it. Of course, DD was 16 months old when I started doing this, and I haven't had to do it in a long time.

  • You just have to be consistent.  NEVER let him stay up there.  Eventually he'll stop bothering.  BUt right now, he's testing you to see if you really mean it.

Just say that you don't climb on the table, that it's dangerous, and then give him something else to play with.  Over adn over and over.

  • We have the exact same problem, and it started when I was on crutches.  Mason though likes to climb into his high chair then on to the kitchen island.  I have since moved where we keep his chair, but he climbs up on anything.  Like Jill said we just keep taking him down saying, "No, feet on the floor", over and over.  So far it's just the built in desk in the kitchen, he likes to dig through my diaper bag.  So we started keeping the desk clean, and hanging my bag/purse in the laundry room.  Seems to have helped.
