Nick name for Emerson (boy)

Emerson and Emery have the same number of syllables. Why not just called him Emerson?

One of my close friends has a girl named Emery, so I think all girl when I hear it. I actually like Emerson for a boy, but don't be surprised if people think you are talking about a girl.

I think you may need to involve the middle name, for a good shortening, like if he is Emmerson John, call him EJ

names that end in 'on' especially in 'son' are masculine names. I really don't think that it's 'cute' to name a girl 'son of Emer.' I don't mind it for a boy, if you have an affection for Ralph Waldo Emerson though. I wouldn't shorten it.

jeeze ladies, you guys are such a buzz kill. 

 I completely understand Emerson has been stolen by the Girls, but I think Emerson and Emery are BOYS names regardless of what other parents have chosen to use it as.

I was asking for NN suggestions. I completely intend on calling our son Emerson, but I also like the name Emery. 

Sonny is a family name and i'm not too fond of it.

So with Emerson I get to use both names I love. Emerson and Emery.

 

BTW girls if you want to name your daughters Emerson and Emery, to each their own, I'm just taking it back from you pinks.

DS' middle name is Emerson, so obviously I like it!  Not sure about a NN...I don't think the name really warrants one.  Definitely not Sonny.  Emery is totally a different name to me (though I like it and considered it as well for a MN).

P.S. - My due date was also 12/28, but DS came a few days early on Christmas Eve.

All the nn discussed are kinda long, so I would probably just use the full name.

Do you watch Entourage? They call Eric 'E' which would work for Emerson, call him E.

If my DS were named Emerson, I would probably end up calling him Em or Emer (Em-ers).

Not a fan of Sonny.

Awesome choice!! for a name... i'm biased, though *lol*.. I picked the same name for my son who is due just before yours  I'm glad to see someone else thinking of it for a boy..as many seem to have picked it for a girl. (doesn't seem like much of a fem name to me, personally, though)  I've thought about this name for a long time...i'm having trouble deciding on a middle name though. And yes, I am a huge fan of Emerson, the transcendentalist writer and poet What drew you to it?

 I like the nickname Emery, too.  Some people say 'Em' also. What about Merse or E'son. just two things i thought off off the top of my head. I'm an outside the box kind of gal
