Re: timing questions...

  • You are past the first trimester, so I say go for it! Just paint a color that would work for a girl or boy, obviously. Have fun!

  • With DS (our first) we painted when I was about 7 months and I started gathering decor around that time as well.  The nursery wasn't completely finished until after DS arrived since he was born three weeks early.  Trust me, the baby won't have a clue!

I never took a parenting class, just a one day childbirth class at about 8 months,

  • When I was pregnant with DD I did all the classes and the hospital tour and what have you when I was around 28-30 weeks and her nursery was not set up when she was born because at the time we had to move in with my mom and she set up her nursery in her spare bedroom after she was born but with this baby I will be setting up "his" nursery around 30 weeks I think.

  • We are just now deciding on what our nursery theme will be.  Now that we know that "it" is a "she," we can plan accordingly.  We will probably wait until after our official a/s to make sure all is well before we go ahead with painting.  That will be in a few weeks.

ETA:  There are a ton of classes that our hospital offers towards parenting.  It suggests you sign up for them in your 2nd tri and attend when you are in your 3rd.  Check with your hospital/ob to see if they do things like that.

  • Your hospital will tell you the appropriate timeline for classes.  I think we did our one day class around 30-32 weeks.

We didn't do the nursery until about 34-35 weeks.  It wasn't done until 38 weeks.  We didn't do anything major though.  Just cleared out our office stuff, set up the crib and put away clothes.
