Has anyone quit pumping?

I was pumping 1x or 2x a day for about 2 months and just quit...I was engorged all the time and soaking through breast pads constantly.

Has anyone else quit pumping and gone back to EBF? I'll pump every once and a while to freeze some milk for baby food and cereals...but i only need 1oz at a time for those so it isn't often.

Re: Has anyone quit pumping?

  • I hadn't been pumping and then I got a job so I started again.  But to me, it is just so much easier to breastfeed than do bottles.  However, after we struggled with doing bottles again after a month of no bottles, I will never go more than 2 days without doing abottle again. Even if it's just an ounce before I breastfeed.

  • I had the same issue with basically having an oversupply so I stopped pumping. I had to start again last week because school started back :(

If I were going to be home with Lila I would not pump unless I had some reason to leave her. Or I may just try to do it once in a while for just in case reasons! Breastfeeding is just so much easier.

  • I was pumping once per day when I was on mat leave but also had oversupply and had to stop.  I was only doing it to build my freezer stash, I much prefer to nurse- quicker, easier, and more convenient!  Now that I'm back at work I pump 2x/day for her bottles during the day...but otherwise I just nurse in the mornings, evenings, and weekends.  I miss it!  Crying

  • I was pumping occasionally so that I would have a bit of a supply in the freezer in case I wanted to go out without LO for longer than 2 hours.   Honestly I felt it was more of a pain to pump and I didn't find a lot of time to do it so I haven't pumped in over a month. This is mainly because I'm a SAHM and I still have milk in the freezer from June that we haven't used yet.

Now that he is STTN, the last couple of nights I have woken up to a wet shirt (despite wearing nipple pads),  so I'm thinking tonight I might pump before I go to bed so I'm really empty before sleeping.
