If you have insurance on your ring my sure you have your ring reappraised since diamond values have gone up over 30% in the last nine months!!! I put a hug chip in in 1 1/4 cut ideal cut diamond and need to have it replaced. I am so upset insurance policy has been updated but ring has not been reappraised, so now instead of the original estimate 5 years ago my diamond was worth, it will cost more than 2k extra on top of the what insurance is paying to have it replaced with the same thing. (they are paying the max of my policy what it was worth 6 years ago) I loved my ring and I am just so upset about it I was in tears last night!

Oh no! That stinks! When DH proposed one of the first things he told me (seriously, while I was still jumping up and down, he's such a nerd) was "not to worry, it's unsured" but that was almost 8 years ago so I guess we should get it re-appraised.
Thanks for the head's up.
Wow, interesting. My ring is my grandmothers and the diamond itself is probably worth next to nothing, but I've been thinking about getting a new band to go with it. Yet another reason it will be synthetic or CZ
