Ok, I was talking earlier today about my DR being open to putting me on clomid if I continue to have a short LP. On the thread someone asked about monitoring me while I was on clomid. I asked my DR about it this morning but I don't really know about why or how you get monitored.
I am not 100% sure because we didn't go into a lot of detail on the clomid just that if it proves to continue this is the route she would take.
Is there a difference in taking the pills versus taking the triggers and such? Any information would be appreciated! TIA!
Re: Clomid and monitoring
Anytime you are on clomid your doctor should be monitoring you with u/s to make sure you are not over responding and that your lining is not too thin. You should also be getting an u/s at the beginning of every cycle to rule out cysts. Are you working with your OB or an RE? I would strongly suggest meeting with an RE if you haven't. They do a great job of monitoring you while on clomid and are usually really good about explaining the process.
TTC since 2010
lots of IUIs and 1 IVF all BFNs
FET currently on hold
You can under respond to Clomid (not have any mature follicles) or over respond (have too many mature follicles), have cysts instead of follicles, etc while taking Clomid (or any fertility drug, really.)
There are just a lot of risks involved which can be very dangerous and so you need your doctor to monitor what's going on inside you.
This is my first Clomid cycle and I'll have 3 total ultrasounds, but some have more. I has one on CD5 to check our my ovaries and ute pre-Clomid, one on CD10 to see how I responded (I responded well and had a mature follicle) and I'll go back Saturday (CD19/6days past trigger) for a last ultrasound this cycle and progesterone draw.
Ok, for the clomid to treat a short LP, she explained it that it will hopefully make me ovulate earlier in my cycle as well as give me a better quality egg when I do Ovulate.
She was talking about prescribing clomid day 5-9 with no trigger. Then she would have me come back in at 7 DPO to test progesterone. I believe, and I can't be positive that she does not monitor for just the pills only when you do the trigger? Does that make any since?
You need to be monitored even if you are not triggering. Jefa's link in her post is very helpful for why you need to be monitored.
Thank you so much for posting this link. Clomid is a very serious medication and I don't know if OBGYN'S and other Dr's understand this.

Don't take this med with your OB. You need to see an RE. You DO need to be monitored for "just the pills." It doesn't matter when in a cycle you O, your LP generally stays about the same (unless you take something specifically for an LPD).
