Hi everyone. I am due in about 3 weeks. I have had a bunch of ultrasounds and they've all showed normal growth, until the one a week ago. His head was measuring 3 weeks behind but all other parts were normal. Today I had an ultrasound with a high-risk specialist and she confirmed the head measurments are still 3 weeks behind. They said there is no reason to worry until it starts measuring 4 weeks behind. This could mean nothing or something's wrong. My test for down syndrome and other abnormalities came back negative. Has anyone had an experience like this? They say don't worry but essentially his head stopped growing 3 weeks ago but the rest of his body keep growing? I have googled all this online and get mixed opinions and stories. Thanks for any input.
Re: baby's head measuring 3 weeks behind at ultrasound?
LO is measuring in the 6th percentile overall- one dr. got me really freaked out about interuterine growth restriction. I had 3 days before going back to the dr. so I googled and googled. I really freaked myself out and had 3 days of imagining the worst.
I only mention this because the Internet can be evil and make you think the worst possible. As hard as it is, stay away from Google and trust that your drs know what they're talking about. Trust that if they say LO's fine, then s/he's fine. I'm a big proponent of trying not to worry about things I have no control over.
FWIW, I talked to my normal dr. for the follow up appt and she put me completely at ease.
Like I said- I know it's hard, but there are times when Google is not our friend.
