Cloth Diapering

Tide users come in!

If you use original Tide powder with an he machine, what is your was routine?  I just got some to try but am wondering if I need to change up my routine. I have a Kenmore Elite he top loader if that helps.

TIA!!! :-)

  • I use tide powder (1/3cup) but not with an he machine. I wash them in hot water, rinse 2x with cold water. I also rinse all of my diapers after I take them off of DS.

  • I have a top loader.  I do a cold prewash.  Hot wash with 2 TB Tide, cold rinse.  Then a quick hot wash/cold rinse with no detergent.

I was just doing 2 cold rinses, but I have hard water and found I needed that extra hot rinse to prevent buildup and ammonia stink.

  • I have a regular (not HE) machine and I do a cold soak/rinse. Then I fill the Tide cup almost to the "1" line and add to a hot wash. Then two cold rinses. Sometimes I do 3 rinses, although I'm not sure why. I just do.

    This.

I even sometimes add in the 3rd rinse for reassurance.

  • I have a top loading HE machine.   I do a soak, then hot wash, and a couple extra rinses.   I'm not sure how much tide I use......probably 2 - 3 tbsp.   I could probably use less, though.   I just don't measure that much.....
  • I have an HE front loader.  My washer doesn't let me tailor the wash settings that much, so my routine is a bit different.  I run a delicate cycle (uses the most water), cold, no spin, no detergent.  Then I run a heavy power wash, hot/cold extra cold rinse, with 1.5-2 tbsp of Tide.
  • i have a top loader and use tide.  i rinse the diapers after they come off dd.  i do a regular warm cold wash and 1 or 2 extra rinses.  this has been my wash routine for 12 yrs and has been great for me.  i do wash daily and would add an extra wash or rinse cycle to the beginning if i didnt :)

This is my routine now (but with a FL), and I don't use Tide, but do have very hard water.  OP, I am so glad you asked this today!  I am planning a test load with Tide tomorrow and was coming to ask this question.
