Success after IF

Really? Really????

I knew this was coming, not so sure why I'm shocked but it's just so....wrong. What am I talking about? Medical bills for having a miscarriage!

$325 from the hospital

$130 from my ob/gyn

$9 per blood draw x's 10 blood draw's: $90

Total: $545

Great, so now I'm out a baby and $545. Sweet. Awesome. Great.

(Although I am thankful for insurance, total charges for the hospital alone was $4,200!)

In good news, beta is finally dropping. It was 31 as of Monday, going back again tomorrow morning for (hopefully) the last one.

Re: Really? Really????

  • I'm so sorry. That's just not fair. Hugs, mama.

But here's one thing you could try to save a little of that money. We've had a bunch of bills with Elizabeth's broken arm and insurance covered a lot, but not all. I called the hospital and asked if they could give me a discount if I paid in full. They immediately knocked off 10%.

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • I keep waiting to get a bill for my miscarriage, which ended with 2 nights in the hospital.  The amount billed to insurance was about $30,000, but I'm not sure what our portion will be.  I'm assuming about $300.  Of course, this doesn't even include all of the co-pays we've already paid for our many ultrasounds and peri visits.  Losing our baby was more expensive than the live birth of our son.  I realize it's a medical procedure and they have to bill you, but it's really hard to pay to lose your baby.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

I called and asked after reading this and they said no because of all the adjustments our insurance made.Sad

  • Yup.

The giant icing on the cake F-U of loss.

You get to PAY for loosing one.  It ain't free!!

    It sucks.

    Bad.

    And I'm so very sorry.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
