This is such a hard decision. My RE says I have "beautiful" embies which is great and I'm so thankful. Here are my percentages
60% chance of getting pg if we transfer 1 embie.
70-75% chance of getting pg if we transfer 2 embies.
40% chance of getting pg w/ twins if we transfer 2 embies.
Before I had Beau - I would have done 2 (and we did with IVF#1) no problem but the thought of Beau and twins terrifies me. I know there are ladies on here that do it but I'm so scared it would just be too much for me. That being said, I want to get pg more than anything. We are 100% OOP so that is something to consider also.

Re: Transfering 1 or 2 embies...WWYD?
I would do 2. Being OOP is the swaying factor for me.
ETA: Also, how are your embies frozen? Individually or in straws of 2? If they are in straws, are you prepared to discard one if both survive the thaw?
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
I would put 2 back, but that's just me. Given that you put 2 back with Beau, got 1 and you are OOP. I seem to be pessimistic when it comes to stuff like this though. One of our FET's we transferred 3 beautiful embies and got none.
But, whatever you decide good luck!
It's such a personal decision, but for myself, I always fall back on "don't transfer more than you're prepared to carry/have."
If we do a FET down the road, we'll transfer only one at a time. We'd rather do multiple FETs (even though we're 100% OOP too) than have twins (a blessing for sure, but not one we're prepared for...unless that one embryo would split!)

That is definitely a tough decision. I would probably transfer 2. I would rather take the risk of twins than the risk of having to cycle again while OOP.
Edit - I changed my mind
I didn't realize this was an FET. I thought it was a fresh cycle. I think I would transfer just one at a time since an FET cycle is significantly cheaper than a fresh cycle (at least at my clinic).
I feel you and I am there with you. Still trying to figure this out in my head!
good luck!

Tough call. I would transfer 2. But that's because I'm 37 and OOP. Good luck!
that said, if we had been in your shoes with individually frozen embryos, we probably would have transferred one at a time. FETs are cheaper and faster, so we probably would have gone conservative at first. Maybe transfer one the first time, maybe one a second time, then get more aggressive if those dont work.
Because we're fancy like that.
I agree. Because of my age and history, we transferred 4 (2 2cell and 2 4cell with a 2dt) and started with twins. I know we would have been been fine but thinking of what was going to be involved with twins and my toddler and my life (DH travels a lot) was very overwhelming for me. (We ended up losing one of the twins early on.) If you know that you REALLY don't want twins, I would transfer 1.

That's a tough decision, but I would probably only transfer 1. If I didn't want twins (which I completely understand especially with a toddler), I wouldn't be comfortable transferring 2. 40% would be too high for my comfort. If your doctor recommended 2 because you were older, had poor quality embryos etc then it would be different, but you don't. Good luck with your decision! I know it's not an easy one.
Personally i would only do 1. I was oop as well and I was fearful of carrying twins and the health risks to them (many times twins are preterm and need special attention in the beginning).
I always hear about the OOP argument, but i think to myself, what does an FET cost? 5K? So maybe you had to do it twice..even 3 times.
What would raising twins cost? Probably 10x as much, right?
If you didn't already have a child i would say 2. I found it easy to have 1 baby. When you add a toddler and a baby to the mix.....IT IS SO MUCH HARDER!
I did transfer 1 on my fresh (my 2 fets didn't work) and had my son. We had PTL issues with him so thankfully i didn't put it 2. It could have been a disaster!
I'm so excited for you that you're at the point of doing an FET!
If I were you, I would only transfer one embryo. I know what a difficult decision this is, but it just seems to make sense for you. We did an eSET for our successful cycle. It was heartwrenching knowing that we were reducing our chances of getting pregnant, but it worked and we are so thankful that we made that decision. I really think with you having such high quality embryos individually frozen at a great clinic, transferring one makes a lot of sense.
I wish you the best with everything!
