Success after IF

Would this get to you?

We just bought Cal this all-wood (painted) log-building set.  This morning I walked into the bathroom to find that he had put all the pieces in the bowl of his potty chair.  I remembered that he had peed in it before his bath last night, and DH rinsed it but I was pretty sure he didn't disinfect it (this was confirmed by text).  I looked and there was a little bit of pee water in the bowl.  This REALLY got to me.  Now all of the logs are soaked in pee-water - it's not finished wood, so it's especially porous.  I didn't have time to clean them, and I don't know how well it would work anyway.  Just grossed me out and pissed me off.  DH said it's really not that big of a deal, and not to let it ruin my morning.  Easier said than done for a gal like me.  I had to choose to let it go, though...really trying to be less stressed for baby's sake.

How would you react to the same situation? Are you the kind of mom who would go, "Eeeew!  Dammit!" and let it get to you, or, "Meh, there are worse things" and move on quickly?

ETA: I wasn't upset with Cal for doing it, I was upset that the potty seat wasn't clean (therefore, upset with DH).

  • I'd probably just plan on having DH figure out how to clean them later and let it go.  its not the end of the world.... :)  deep breaths mama!  you've got bigger fish to fry!

Ha - if left up to him, he wouldn't clean it.  Whenever anything comes up having to do with urine, he tells me that urine is sterile (?) and his ex-stepfather's dad used to drink his own urine for the supposed health benefit.  Yeah...that makes me feel better.  GAG.

  • I'd be seriously annoyed and then I'd be over it.  Is Cal at an age where he's gets the ramifications of putting them in the potty?  Meaning, does he understand that he can't play with them now since they're dirty?  If I could turn it into a learning thing, I might be less annoyed by it.

I'm sorry this was the start to your day.  That sucks.

  • I'm in the Meh category. But disinfection isn't something we do on a regular basis.

    It's just pee. NBD

I don't typically disinfect the house from top to bottom but when it comes to bodily fluids, I do.  :)

  • It wouldn't bother me at all.  I would have just dumped them out on a towel, sprayed them with Lysol, and gone about my day.

But then again, I have never disinfected the potty. I dump and put it back in it's place and call it a day.
