Morning My Pretties!

Did everyone survive the storm? No real damage I hope! That was CRAZY! We ended up going to my parents house and drinking wine in their basement until 1am. Our basement is unfinished and its not somewhere you can hang out. If we hadn't have had time we would have took shelter there but we were okay enough to drive the 2 blocks to my parents place.

What about you ladies, did you take shelter or tough it out? I'm a whimp when it comes to storm. My reaction is to grab the dog, hubby and flashlights and head to the basement!

We survived!! We were upstairs until the "watch" changed to a "warning" and then we grabbed the pooch and sat in the basement and watched tv (with me obsessively checking the weather news of course)

We survived!  Like rocky, we were watching TV upstairs (well, main floor) until the watch turned into a warning, then we grabbed the laptops and hung out in the basement.  Sadly, the basement is not finished.  I suggested that we take the opportunity to get in a workout, but no one liked that idea.

My crazy step-dad was driving around taking pictures!  My mom called after the warning was lifted and apparently last she'd heard from him he was somewhere around Brantford.  The things that man will do for "the shot"!

 My Dad sat on his porch the entire time and took pictures lol We had some crazy lightening in Brantford. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. I've never seen lightning go horizontally across the sky. We saw it hit something at one point. About 5 minutes later all we could hear were sirens so I'm pretty confident it hit something and caught it on fire. That's when we all, incluidng my Dad, hit the basement. 

I feel hung over today. We were up until 1:30 watching the storm (because I was scared and couldn't sleep) and because I drank far too much wine.

As we were sitting on the floor in the basement (leaning against various pieces of workout equipment and not using them) I said that alcohol would vastly have improved the situation.  I may have pouted.

Haha ooo weekday hangovers are terrible!! At least it's almost the weekend..

Hahaha.. oh god, I found a new way to pass time. I started lurking on the Baby Names board... I don't understand why people post the names they like and ask for opinions from complete strangers? If you LOVE the name for your kid, then use it!

I know! They get so angry when people tell them they think it's a stupid name. What did you expect, that EVERYONE is going to think it's a fantastic name? Get real. DH and I have our names picked for boys/girls and our names are the names we like. We won't tell family/friends our names until the baby is born and named. When my sister named my nephew, the drama that went down before he was born and she announced what his name was going to be was nuts. My Mom hated it (I did too, thank god she changed her mind) but I never said anything, my mom on the other hand took every chance she got to tell my sister what a terrible name she thought it was. I don't need that kind of ***. Once the babies born and named, what's done is done. People are less likely to form an opinion and voice it when you introduce your baby to them with a name already.

Exactly! We have picked out middle names for 1 boy and 1 girl (William for a boy, Elizabeth for a girl) because they're both family names for both H and I. First names are still very undecided but I plan on keeping them a secret until LO is born as well.. I would like to have 1 name picked out plus 1 or 2 back up names in case we think that the baby doesn't look like the original name we picked.

What was the name your sister originally picked that everyone hated? and what did she end up using?

Exactly. I've told my parents about the middle name we will use for a boy (John Barry) after DH's dad and my dad but the first names we are keeping quiet on. My sister was going to name her little one Darien James and call him D.J. Personally, I really don't like the name Darien and I'm not a fan of the names that are abbreviated with letters (D.J, C.J etc) . She didn't like it 100% either but her boyfriend did. She finally changed her mind once he was born and his name is Dominic James but we all call him Dom.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the abbreviated letter thing either.. I have a bunch of name pet peeves lol I'm SO worried about picking a name for a kid, it's such a big responsibility! and what if I hate it after awhile? It sucks because a lot of names I liked have become popular, and the last thing I want is for my kid to be 1 of 3 with the same name in their class!

I think the same thing. DH has a very common name and I do sort of as well, but mine is spelled differently than most. I'd like to pick a less common name for our kids but I'm a big fan of old traditional names, nothing weird like Apple lol and those kind of names (like Sophia etc) are coming back in style and are more common now.

Both H and I have common names as well. I loveeee old traditional names as well, I wish more people would try and name their kids weird things so when my kids have more traditional names they're the unique ones! haha

She has some amazing ideas, but she kind of annoys me lol as do MOST (but not all) TV chefs.. eventhough I'm semi obsessed with the Food Network

I watch him most days, but he can get slightly annoying. The camera work on his show annoys the CRAP out of me!! It zooms in and out all the time, so terrible.

My favourite TV chef is Chuck Hughes!! Although he is getting more annoying (I think TV chefs have to overact and it's slightly ridiculous) but he's adorable!

I despise Giada. I cannot deal with her over-exaggerating of every Italian word that comes out of her HUGE mouth!!

LMAO! That's what I say too! Her head is HUGE! I wonder if her daughter has a huge head too. And her exaggerations on the Italian words makes me nuts. We get it, you speak Italian, you can have an accent whenever you want, you make Italian food, you're Italian, we get it.

I pulled steaks out but unless this weather clears up, I'm not BBQ'ing. I might just cut the steaks into strips (wait..is that my DH crying?) and make fajita's with them. Easier!

Totally random but do any of you know if Excedrine Migraine is available in Canada yet? I know it wasn't for a long time, but I'm not sure if it is yet.

I went to the eye Doctor last Thursday and he found that I had a lot of pressure behind my eyes and a build up of fluid which has been causing my migraines. He called me this afternoon with an apt to see a specialist to figure out what's going on and my appointment is at the end of OCTOBER. I'm so angry. I have to wait 2 more months. Our health care system is so messed up! In the meantime I need something stronger then tylenol and I need a weekend.

I agree, our health care system is SO messed up!!  Waiting 4hrs in emerg, making a doctors appt for 3 months from now.. we NEED more doctors!

No I haven't tried it. It works well I assume? I've only ever tried Advil or Tylenol and neither is working this time.

 We need to create more incentive for our Doctors to STAY in Ontario.

Wow. A house just exploded about 6 blocks from where I work. It shook our entire building, knocked over displays and caused our ears to pop. My desk shook and my flowers fell off my desk. I can't stop shaking. We don't have anymore details yet but they think it was a either a gas leak or meth lab. No more details yet though.

I was just saying that to my boss. I told him no more or I'll need a mental health break. This is nuts! I had the most boring job ever and this week has been the most "excitement" in the 3 years I've worked here.
