I bet most of the ladies are off with their DH's after all the posts that happened here today :P
My DH and I are sitting here on the couch watching some TV and I'm cruising through our photographer's portfolio because we are having professional photos done tomorrow
What about you?

I just ordered some clothes for we three girls online and am about to go watch Sixteen Candles. DH just found it on TV and I CANNOT resist it when it comes on. Ha!
Have a blast tomorrow!

Awesome, ladies! But do either of you remember when it came out? I was 10 when it came out and it was the coolest ever...well, that and Grease, but Grease was already kinda old.

I was 2 when it came out.
Now I feel really old since I was 4 when Grease came out, and I barely count that since I didn't really watch it over and over until about 5 years later. Two years old...Sixteen Candles? Gah.
ETA: I love how Ted had his headgear with him.

Aww, sorry. I think my mom introduced me to Sixteen Candles in middle school, and it has been one of my most-watched (and most-quoted) movies ever since. I actually referenced it with a student a few months ago (parents kind of blew off her birthday), and she had never heard of it! Man, I felt old.

Funny! Anthony Michael Hall and Molly Ringwald got me through being 10ish-11ish years old as Vacation (my first R movie)/Sixteen Candles/Breakfast Club/Pretty in Pink came out. Oh, and Back to the Future, of course.

Before I run off to bed, I have to add that I totally think my husband looks like Jake Ryan when he is clean-shaven (the eyes), and that is probably part of why I started dating him in high school.

Smart lady! Could he do real pull-ups? Did he send you off with a geek in a Rolls Royce? Did he buy you a really nice cake?
I'm still eager to hear about your school, BTW, but that can wait! Are you going to change your location here or on FB, or maybe it doesn't feel real quite yet?
ETA: DH says Michael Schoeffling is now a woodworker and makes furniture.

My sister and I googled Michael Schoeffling several years ago -- you're right! He lives in PA, I think. My DH is a very talented woodworker, too.
I keep forgetting to change my location on FB and the bump! I'm too tired to deal with it right now, but I'll do it tomorrow. I definitely feels like home already -- I can't believe that five weeks ago we were on our way out here for a vacation, having no idea that the girls and I wouldn't even go back!
The school is really great -- very large district (4 high schools), just named one of the top 500 in the country by Newsweek. It is public, and I am shocked that they offer benefits to part-timers (there are like 4 or 5 of us). I think they really work hard to retain their employees. They're only on their 4th superintendent since the first school opened 60 years ago. It is SO different than the schools I have been in out East -- they do very little testing and are actually off the ground when it comes to RtI! What else do you want to know??

What a coincidence! I've been telling DH for years that I want him to take up woodworking. I'd actually love to myself, and I did such things with my dad as a preschooler, but my photography takes up my artsy crafty time these days, and that's not until after midnight as it is.
That's amazing, Jill. The benefits thing blew me away when you first mentioned that last month. Just being able to find something part time is quite impressive! And having child care blew me away too. The superintendent thing is wild -- wow! I left my school before RtI became the norm but I'm familiar with it since I was Student Support Team chair and I still attend school counselor conferences. One day we'll have to chat about your role now that RtI is the norm -- our school psychs did testing testing testing followed by meeting meeting meeting. That's why it didn't interest me and I was a school counselor even though school counselors get screwed in terms of pay in NC (i.e. compared to school psychologists) but that's for another book. School here starts tomorrow so I'm going to be all nostalgic in the morning as I LOVE the first day. My youngest students are starting middle school, and my oldest from this school are now juniors in college. (The elementary students I had when I first graduated college are now in their mid-late 20s.) I'm just dazzled that they're so employee-friendly there, even though I think I worked in a great little system here. I want to visit you, LOL!
ETA: At risk of being creepy, I just found a press release from the Board meeting after you were hired, so now I know where you work. I'll look at the website tomorrow if it doesn't creep you out too much! You may list it on FB at some point anyway?

I was 8 when Grease came out, so yeah... it was the coolest ever, but not old
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Sixteen candles wasn't one of the movies I loved. But Grease was my favourite for YEARS...and then Reality Bites. It's sooo cheesy now that I look back but I loved Ethan Hawke.

I said it was old when Sixteen Candles came out and was new, as in it had been out for a few years! Not that Grease was old in and of itself when it had opened just 5 years before! I promise!!!

I was 7 when Grease came out and my mom took me and my and cousins to see it in the theater. It was my first non-cartoon movie in the movies. Loved it. Had the soundtrack LP (Record for you young'uns)

I didn't see it in the theater but it was my favorite when I was 9 or so about 5 years after it came out -- I knew it SO well. Discovered in talking with a friend in college that we knew two different unedited versions plus the unedited version.

Not sure how that one escaped me since I've seen most of those movies many times!
