When did your babies drop to one nap

It seems like it's early, but the morning nap is gradually getting later and longer. Right now I'm putting them down for an afternoon nap, but it seems like they might be getting close to just taking one nap. I think I need to get the morning nap pushed back a bit still though.

10 months seems really early for this to be happing. When did your kiddos drop to one nap?

  • We're actually back up to three.  (Two in cribs and one in the stroller while I run in the evenings.)  Tongue Tied Ug.

  • We're still on 2 naps a day at almost 17 months old.  I think it depends on the child, my boys are really obviously not ready for 1 nap but yours may be ready earlier than other babies, you never know.

  • Mine are 14 mths and this past week they haven't been wanting to take their afternoon nap.  Think it might be soon that they will only have 1 nap :-(

  • Mine just recently dropped to one nap and they are 20 months old.  They were doing 2 naps until about 19 mos old.  We tried to go to 1 earlier but they weren't ready.  Now they take 1 long nap, at least 2 hours and 3 if we are lucky.  They also sleep all night thank goodness.  I had heard from some moms that theirs dropped to 1 nap at 12 mos. but others keep 2 naps well into age 2.  It all depends.
  • Mine dropped to one today. I am returning to work next week and daycare only does one nap, so I am getting them ready now.

  • One of my girls would only take 1 half hour nap all day before she turned a year.  It was awful because the other was on 2 naps and I had one up at all times.  Luckily things turned around and the one went back to 2 naps (kind of around the time she started walking - she would tire herself out).  Now at almost 17 months, they're still on 2 naps!  I am dreading them going to 1 because they sleep really good at their naps and I like having 2 breaks to get things done.

This is us too. We FINALLY just transitioned to one nap from about 12:30-3:00. I tried to go to one nap at 16 months, and the just weren't ready. They really needed and liked their morning nap. So forever we were doing a quick morning nap from 9:30-11, and then another nap from about 2ish-4ish. It really took until about 19 months for them to be really ready for just one nap. I think it really depends on the kid though. I had no reason to drop the morning nap and honestly enjoyed having a hour or so to myself in the morning! :)

Hee hee...I'm sure you won't be surprised that we are dropping to one nap tomorrow.  I'm giving 2 a last attempt today, but all week 2 naps have been a big fat fail!

Funny how similar are stories usually are!  Maybe it's that May 21 birthday.  Big Smile
