DS still needs to be rocked to sleep, a habit I'd like to break before #3 is born. I never had this problem with DD. I was always able to put her down sleepy, but awake.
I've tried putting DS down sleepy, but awake and it has NEVER worked. He immediately stand up in his crib and cries. I'm not opposed to letting him cry it out and I would, but when he cries (even if for only a couple of minutes) he vomits. If he wakes in the middle of the night I can let him cry for a few minutes without this reaction and he falls back to sleep.
It's not that I mind rocking him, but DH travels frequently for work and I don't know how I'd rock DS1 and DS2.
Help me please!!!
Re: I need HELP!!!
My DD was the exact same way... I had to hold her/rock her/sleep with her almost every night b/c when I let her CIO she would vomit.
What I did was a copycat technique I saw on Supernanny (yes, supernanny) ... I would sit on the floor next to her crib (i'm sure not comfortable pregnant...) so that I was still there physically.... and I'd hold her hand or rub her arm for a few minutes...
Nightly I'd sort of wean myself out of the room.
Its not fool proof - I stil sit in her room with her often til she falls asleep, but the process is much less dramatic than it used to be.
My son is exactly the same way. He HAS to be held to fall asleep and he'll be 2 next month. We also can't do the CIO because of the same reasons and I don't feel like cleaning it up. And CIO isnt for me either. My son also still doesn't sleep through the night. So that's another issue we're working on. We took him to a sleep specialist and that was a waste of time.
I desperately wanted him STTN before my second but that didn't happen. Anyway I feel your pain I'm in the same boat. But good luck I Hope you figure it out soon!
