Gonal F: Can I warm it to room temp first?

I hope this is my last annoying question. RE added it and I wasn't expecting it at all. So glad I have you smart ladies to ask these questions to.

  • I used to stick it in my cleavage for a few minutes or wrap it in the heating pad that was on deck for my sore bum!

  • It is actually good at room temp for like 30-60 days or something like that? The fine print on the package should tell you (we had the pen, though....not sure if that makes a difference). We kept it in the fridge, however, and I never had a problem with injecting it cold. But, I am pretty sure warming to room temp is no problem.

  • Yes you can, and I definitely recommend it. I always pulled the dose (used the Gonal F pens) and just let it sit on the counter for a few minutes before I injected it.

    hahahahaha this image is hilarious!

It is a little less stingy if you inject it after it warms, but I think after the first week or so, I just did it straight from the fridge.

  • YES!  Per my RE:

It has to be refrigerated prior to the first use.  Once it reaches room temperature for the first time, it is good for 30 days regardless of whether or not it goes back into the fridge -- so it can stay out the entire time.  I kept mine in the bathroom, in a basket on the counter.

    Good luck!

My RE said something completely different. He told me if I to be away from home while taking it that I had to put ice packs in it during travel to keep it cool.

That's weird!  I actually called the pharmacy (Freedom) to double check, and they told me the same thing....
