Re: what is the last thing you did splurge on?

  • Not a HUGE splurge... but I bought a new bike ($300) to do a triathlon this past weekend. Sad part... the bike fell off the back of my car (thank you DH) on my way to the race and it is totaled. I literally had it 3 weeks. Crying

  • Meechrobi, that is horrible about your bike!

I splurged on Les Miserables tickets. I had tickets when I was a teenager, but was very sick the night of the show and couldn't go. It is my all time favorite musical and I have been dying to see it for over a decade. It came to town a couple months ago, and I went for it. Worth every penny.

  • I bought a Nook Color a couple weeks ago.  It was very, very spontaneous -- I didn't know anything about it and had never considered anything like it until about 30 minutes before I clicked buy. :)

  • Our DSLR camera. And it took me a good six months to finally convince myself that we should buy it, and that was with using some Christmas money we'd received. I think we're probably frugal to a fault!
After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • well, I'm not quite there, but if our house sells, then the big splurge will be the house i'm about to buy. eeek!
  • Our vacation to Bermuda!     We were celebrating DH's graduation, my 30th, the new baby, etc.

and right now I kinda think we are "splurging" on our bedroom renovation, as we didn't really need it - but it sure is going to make it nicer to stay here for the next 1-2 years.

  • A new handbag.  It was ~$800 and I love it - it's a perfect tote for all my stuff and isn't too stiff or formal for me not to carry it every day.  I'm a complete bag nut so I tend to get at least one new one each season.

ETA: I forgot I also just upgraded my DSLR camera body...it was actually more than my new bag but that has been the BEST move...I love it so much!

  • These were splurges to us, though most people probably wouldn't see them as such...

For our most recent anniversary, DH bought me a new laptop. My old one was 5 years old and sooooo slow. Also, the hard disk was full, and a replacement would cost more than a new machine. THIS IS THE FIRST brand new computer that either one of us has ever bought. And we are techies! We've had new laptops before but only ones that work/school paid for. It's a nice laptop but not the most expensive/fancy one out there by far.

For Christmas, I bought DH a La-Z-Boy. It had to be a nice looking CHAIR (i.e. not something that looks like a recliner because I hate them), and it had to be big enough to fit him (he's 6'1"). They had like 3 in the whole store that fit those criteria, so yeah, it was expensive. Hopefully he'll have it for a long, long time.

  • Honestly I can't remember unless you count a mani/pedi. We are watching the finances in hopes we'll have LO #2 in daycare this time next year.

ETA: Actually I bought a DSLR and accessories a little over a month ago...now I need to learn to use it!

  • DH just got me a beautiful new LV work bag.  Insanely huge splurge but appreciated by this extremely stressed teacher. I only get a new tote for school every few years so it's not completely impractical just more expensive than the last Coach one.

Before that would be buying DS an entire new bedroom of pirate items.  He doesn't need his room redone, he like his current sports theme, but pirates are his favorite right now. It was as much a splurge for me as him.
