Hi Ladies -
So, my SIL just had a baby a month and a half ago, and this weekend her daughter will be baptised. She has asked my husband to be the godfather. In general, for baptisms and christenings, I give a card and a check - but my husband really wants to give a gift since he's going to be the godfather. (I didn't know he wanted to give a "gift" gift, or I would have tried to think about this sooner!)
Do you have any suggestions?
Our one idea so far: We were thinking perhaps a little diamond cross necklace that her parents could keep for her and perhaps give to her once she gets older (but I don't know if her parents will think that's just a whole lot of trouble.)
Re: Need Suggestions/Ideas: Baptism Gift
In our family the godparents give the baby a gold bracelet and a gold necklace (google cadena de bautizo)... there are other options too...

This might be a little late, but a great gift is an add-a-pearl necklace.
You start out with 1 or 2 on the chain (one for the birth and / or one for the baptism) and then for each milestone (birthdays, graduations, etc.) another can be bought to add to it. Then when she's all grown, she'll have a full set of pearls and they each represent something from her life growing up.
I've never heard of that! It's an awesome idea!
Also, if I were Catholic we would so be doing the donation to have nuns pray daily, that's too neat!
Thanks, ladies, for all of your suggestions!
