WWYD?

My DD had swim lessons this morning, then we went the gym where she had a fun time playing, she fell asleep on the way home and I put her in her crib when she got home. Everything was fine. She was only down for about 15-20 minutes when she woke up and started bawling. She bawled for at least 30 minutes even with me cuddling her, giving her milk, and her lovey. She sort of stopped for a few minutes, and is bawling again. I can only assume something is hurting, but she can't tell me where. Believe me, she does not cry like this unless something is really wrong. There is no ear pulling. and did let out a pretty big fart (sorry if TMI), but it didn't seem to help much. No temperature. Would you give her pain medicine? Give her gas drops? Both? Or just call the doctor? Right now I am leaning towards doc. She sounds absolutely miserable.

Re: WWYD?

  • I always blame the ears.  Do you think she has water in them?

  • Did you take her temperature? Could she be overtired?

  • I'd start with gas drops (since she obviously seems to be gassy) and see what that does.

All you can do is systematically go through your options. When all else fails, call the pedi.

  • Yeah I would try the gas drops first, too. Then call if she still not better. But of course, go with your gut if she seems to be super out of it!

  • Thanks everyone! She has finally settled a bit. I gave her gas drops, and we will see how she does. She is currently eating some crackers and is snuggling.
