Which gift would you rather receive?

I have a wedding to go to next Friday, and I just found out yesterday that the couple has not registered anywhere. I asked a bridesmaid and she said the couple would like gift cards to the brick to purchase a new couch. I feel that because they didn't register I can get them anything I want... and I like these signs.

Or am I just being stupid and I should go get them a gift card?

Option 2 would be faster, as they're local. The first one would be late, but i would get it shipped directly to the couple.

I like the second one. And I really did love the wedding gifts that you could tell someone put a lot of effort or thought in to. Everytime I see certain items in my house that were cool wedding gifts, I think of the giver.

this. I love special stuff and since they didn't register they obviously don't care that much about specific things. I love the second one.

I gave the second option as the groomsmen gifts at our wedding. Everyone loved them. So many people asked where I got them so they could give them as Christmas gifts that year. I think it is a much better gift than a gift card.
