Success after IF

Those who have PTed

There are going to be ups and downs right? We started yesterday and yesterday went well. Only 4 accidents and he was saying "pee pee potty" and running in the bathroom. So far today we have had 3 accidents and 1 poop accident and it is only 9:00am. He will go a little bit if i take him in but obviously not all the way. I praise him and he gets m&m's for pee pee and poop (which he did a tiny bit after he pooped on my floor.) He has been naked but he wanted to wear his Thomas underwear so we put those on. We have already gone through one pair.

Is this normal? When will it get easier? I know it is a learning process for both of us. Thanks for any help.

Re: Those who have PTed

  • Jude is not consistent by any means.  We have really good days and then awful days.  The pediatrician said at his two year appointment that one day it will just "click" probably somewhere around 2.5.  I'm just going with the flow for now!  :)

  • I'd give it a couple of days, and if the number of accidents doesn't lessen, then I'd wait a while before giving it a go again.  You don't want to push it if he's not quite ready.  I found that my boys got it quickly once we found the right timing.

  • For us day 2 was the worst.

    My advice:

    1.  Drink once he goes to bed and make DH give you a massage.  It's exhausting.

    2.  Stick with it.

For us it was day 4 or 5 when I saw the light at the end of the tunnel but mine were younger so I don't know what the norm is at his age.

Hang in there Mamma!  The light bulb will go off.  I promise!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Thanks ladies, we are at 7 accidents and underwear #5 but no accidents in about 45 minutes.

Howley, i would drink tomight, but i have to work...maybe after i get home. I am planning on sticking with it. He is learning so i hope to "see the light" by the end of the weekend.
