1st Trimester

1st tri = snails pace!

I don't remember feeling like this with DS, but this pregnancy seems SUPER SLOW!  I think it is all due to the earlier M/S and general feelings of crappiness (yep, its a word).  With DS I felt sick from 8 to 11 weeks, and I have been feeling gross since 5 weeks and now constantly nauseated starting at 6weeks and 0days.  I get very overwhelmed thinking that if I am sick until 11 weeks again then I have 5 weeks to go. I keep telling myself, "one day at a time."  Anyone else have a better mantra?  I need one!

  • I have nothing helpful to offer. All I know is that this has been THE LONGEST 3 weeks of my entire life!!!!!

  • It always helps if you feel like you're actively trying to address the situation. Are you doing anything for the nausea? Some of the pregnancy books have good suggestions (What to expect, Mayo clinic guide, etc). I've been using a ginger tonic in perrier in the mornings, and I also find I get less nauseous if I eat small snacks continuously throughout the day (rather than three normal meals). Going for walks also helps, though when you're really nauseous that feels like the last thing you want to do. But it does seem to help me.

I'm sure you're doing things already to help. It goes faster if you feel like you have a plan to deal with it, rather than just enduring it.

  • I've only known I was PG for a week and it feels like a lifetime. I don't know how I'm going to survive 1st tri! I can't wait to get to 2nd tri because I'll feel so much better about everything and really feel like this is my sticky baby.

  • It does go by slow! I am pretty much 2nd tri though! My mantra is kind of like yours, One day at a time.

  • Ohhh my goodness, it goes slow!!!  I had no idea there would be so much anxiety attached to pregnancy.  I'm not sick (knock on wood)  A few symptoms but a friend of mine told me her midwife suggested eating some protein before bed to stave off morning sickness.  Little wedge of cheese, some chicken... she said it worked for her.   I'm thankful I'm not the only one feeling like the second trimester can't come too soon.   But then again, all this anxiety is also interrupting the fact that this should be a VERY exciting time, so I try to just trust and have faith that it's in the Lord's hands!  I hope you're feeling better soon!!!
