So I was telling DH about the lunchmeat posts today on the way to Target. When we got to Target and went to pick out our lunchmeat, DH was checking out the more "natural" options (since, believe it or not, we don't INTENTIONALLY give our kid(s) less healthy options than are otherwise available, it's more the fact that it never occurred to us that some things are that big a deal or a risk, but if convenient/affordable we do choose what we consider better options).
So, he got some different meat than we usually get (our norm is the Oscar Meyer deli thins, smoked turkey, which Toodle LOVES). I think it was hormel, some natural choice, preservative free, etc.
We got home and gave it to Toodle. Cue: "Bye bye turkey. Bye bye meat."
DH's conclusion: Toodle must like the preservatives so I guess we're sticking with them.
(And no, I'm not bragging about or glorifying taking the less healthy option, just sharing a funny in light of all the controversy. Of course I'd prefer he'd eat the healthier stuff, but I'm just happy when he eats so if he eats the Oscar Meyer, that's what we're getting.)
Re: Funny s/o the lunchmeat issue...
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
At least yours prefer the healthier (albeit pricier) option! I love how toddlers express displeasure with something by telling it "bye bye". Hehe.
Okay, not to be pushy or judgy at all (I have avoided all of those posts today other than to add humor), but give it another shot (or not! It's up to you.
). Anytime you try something new that's not exactly what you're used to or what you expected, there's an adjustment period. He's used to the Oscar Meyer stuff, so this seems weird. I'd keep offering it and see what happens. It's worth trying since you already bought it, right?
Anyway, just a thought that you can take or leave as you please!
(FTR, since I didn't really weigh in on much of today's stuff, we try to make healthy, all natural, and organic choices, but we make PLENTY of less than stellar choices, too. Everyone focuses on different things; to each their own; kumbaya; etc.!)
hahaha! I spent 4 years in Michigan and could never bring myself to say pop and lunchmeat! It's soda and cold cuts!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
