Baby sleeping with mouth open,, bad???

All my inlaws keep telling me that its bad for my new baby to sleep with her mouth  open. They say that she wont sleep as sound and that later on when shes a kid she will still be sleeping with her mouth open. I guess they think i should push it closed..... Does anyone know anything about this ??? sounds like an OLD WIVES TALE,, but Im not sure...

Not sure about babies but it can eventually be a problem when they are older.  Sometimes mouth breathers have small arches and appliances are required to widen the arch to allow adequate space for all teeth to come in.

I wouldn't worry about it too much at such a young age.

That just sounds dumb!  Let her sleep however the heck she wants to sleep!  Is she not sleeping sound enough?  I've never heard of such silly nonsense!

My baby sleeps with his mouth open too.  I've never heard it's bad, just heard it's unusual.  Not sure how exactly you're suppose to change that about a baby anyway!

DS sometimes sleeps with his mouth open, especially when he is sleeping on someones chest. I have never heard of this being bad before.
